For too many Black and mixed-race children in foster care, proper hair care is treated as optional. When their hair is neglected, it affects confidence, cultural identity, and mental health.
Most foster parents and social workers genuinely want to help but lack the knowledge and resources to care for textured hair properly. This knowledge gap leaves children feeling overlooked and disconnected from their heritage.
We provide free hair care services to vulnerable children while educating the adults in their lives. Our pilot event supported 45 children, and we’re scaling to reach 100 children in April 2026. Beyond one-day events, we provide ongoing training for foster parents, social workers, and organizations.
